VETERANS DAY PARADE
Sponsored by the City of Folsom. Veterans Day will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. Due to COVID, this will be a virtual event.
Folsom Pays Tribute to the Nation’s Veterans – The traditional parade will not take place this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The City of Folsom will pay tribute to the nation’s veterans with a short video with segments from past years’ parades and interviews with local veterans. Watch a Veterans Day Commemoration on November 11 at 9 a.m. on www.facebook.com/FolsomParksandRec.
This year’s honorary Grand Marshal is Ernie Sheldon. Prior to his many years as a member of the Folsom City Council, Ernie served 33 years in the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a much-decorated lieutenant colonel, with a Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, and an Air Force Commendation medal with five clusters.
Ernie led the effort to expand Folsom’s Veterans Day Parade, making it one of the largest in the region. He also spearheaded the planning, construction, and design of the city’s Veterans Memorial in City Lions Park.
